When
Ernie Ball in 1984 took over, the program that was only in amplifiers,
guitars and basses, slashed completely, they only produced the Music Man
StingRay bass. No wonder, because that was (and still is) the pride.
Sterling Ball said in 1989: " our quality standards are high. Our
philosophy is, that only if we can really make a model of consistent
quality, then we start a second one. "
Sterling Ball himself is an excellent bass player and was, in addition to his job at Music Man, also active as a musician. His band, the Balls Biff, often reinforced by prominent musicians such as Albert Lee, whom Sterling recorded a few albums with, or Steve Morse, Steve Lukather and many more. For Sterling Ball it is extremely important to work with musicians and retailers. The range of Music Man now includes a wide variety of models.
