Zemaitis was
born in
1935 in London.
His original
profession was
a cabinet maker.
Tony's career
began in 1955 with
building
guitars, he
made
an acoustic
guitar because
he had
no money
to buy
one.
The construction
of the guitar was
in so
much joy
that he
began to
build guitars
for friends.
That's how the hobby
of passion and
profession
began.
Because in
the 60's
12 string
guitars were hard to get in
England,
he built the
first guitar
for professional
guitarists such
as Ralph
McTell and
Spencer Davis,
Eric Clapton
and Jimi
Hendrix.
Tony quickly
became known
in England
and eventually
he built for
musicians like
George Harrison,
Mark Bolan,
Ron Wood
and Ronnie
Lane etc.
Apart from the
unique sound
of his guitar,
he also
helped his
ingenious design.
For Donovan,
he built a
guitar with
blue stars
and a crescent
as soundhole.
